Inspired by the tribal jewellery of Bangladesh, this stunning collection of cowrie shells paired with recycled wood beads on a braided rope, is a bold, head-turning necklace.
In ancient times cowrie shells were used as money. Today they’re valued for their beauty and still used ceremonially around the world.
This necklace is artisan Rina’s own design. She now has at least another dozen women working from their homes fulfilling orders for her creations. Small scale, home based work that’s easily picked up and put down earns every artisan a good wage whilst still caring for her family’s domestic needs.
