Clay earrings evoke the simple and casual, especially these inspired by local delicious fruits.
Carefully hand rolled beads are made from the bedrock of Bangladesh, clay. Whole villages are devoted to producing terracotta goods of all kinds.
Brightly coloured and natural beads are made from scraps of wood and then hand-dyed in the maker’s workshop.
Three major rivers run through the nation’s countryside and cities to the Bay of Bengal, creating the largest river delta in the world. Hence the wide use of good quality clay for everything from jewelry to cookware.
These earrings are artisan Rina’s own design. She now has at least another dozen women working from their homes fulfilling orders for her creations. Small scale, home based work that’s easily picked up and put down earns every artisan a good wage whilst still caring for her family’s domestic needs.
