Description
Handspun, handwoven cotton khadi with indigo and other vegan-friendly plant dyed cottons, combine to make this stunning and versatile cotton backpack. With security in mind this eco-friendly backpack has 2 covered zip pockets at front plus a waterproof lined ‘secret’ zip pocket at the back – big enough for most handheld devices. The roomy interior of this lightweight backpack is closed with a strong drawstring cotton cord and covered with a secured flap. An extra loop at the top allows for easy storage when not in use and a faux leather base helps protect the valuables within.
The blocks used to create these beautiful wax resist batik designs are skillfully carved by local craftsmen. Families have earned their living at this craft for generations and fair trade practices mean they continue to do so.
Khadi is the deceptively simple handspun, handwoven cotton made famous by Gandhi. Soft to the touch yet strong and hardwearing, khadi is the cotton fabric worn from ancient times til today by people from all walks of life … the ultimate equality Gandhi so longed for.

The rich colours emerging from beautiful indigo plants, tree branches, seeds and more bring a deep vibrancy to these quality, hand-dyed fabrics. Natural dyes however do vary slightly in colour with each dye batch, so the fabric for your order will come from a single dye batch each time.
