Just gaze upon this chic stripe a moment – a beautifully subtle slate grey and white. Isn’t there something about a fine handwoven cotton that makes you gasp? Honestly – thinking about the finest of threads building up one after the other – by hand – is an awe inspiring thing!! The magical blend of minute changes in yarn tension happening as the bobbin is wound, beating down the warp and winding all go unseen … until they don’t … until the softness takes you by surprise each time you slip it on after yet another wash.
This fabric is a perfect example of the community work it takes to create handwoven fabrics. At least a dozen different tasks happen even before a weaver sits at the loom – each one employing multiple people. Wearing and using handmade anything ups the sustainable impact of our choices exponentially. Thank you!

As we are committed to the Slow Fashion Movement, some fabrics are kept in stock and others are handwoven to order. All however, are transported by sea to leave a significantly smaller carbon footprint than sending by air, and to keep the cost down. When needed, an air shipment can be arranged and we encourage you then to consider a carbon offset donation to your preferred organisation.
