Description
This lightweight weave is the perfect base fabric for any project you’ve got in mind – clothing, crafts, home accessories and more! This sustainably fab fabric may appear unassuming but it has an inner strength that shows in the myriad treatments it can take and still come up shining!
Handwoven fabric production in NW Bangladesh helps address the community-wrecking, family-damaging effects of rural-urban migration. When men and women have to leave their families en masse to find work in the cities, the resulting problems are many and complex. A commitment to using the hand made whenever and wherever possible ensures a growing stabilisation of families, near zero carbon-emissions into the environment and more holistic alternatives for a sustainable lifestyle.

DESIGN OPTIONS: Simple plain weave cotton is handwoven on traditional 2 shaft looms, where the options for colour, stripe/check patterns and texture are endless! The excitement also happens after the fabric is woven as it takes both natural and azo-free dyes beautifully. Tie-dye and other resist techniques yield interesting results and can be applied to either the yardage or the finished scarves, drapes, etc. for a flowing finish.

As we are committed to the Slow Fashion Movement, some fabrics are kept in stock and others are handwoven to order. All however, are transported by sea to leave a significantly smaller carbon footprint than sending by air, and to keep the cost down. When needed, an air shipment can be arranged and we encourage you then to consider a carbon offset donation to your preferred organisation.
